[edit] In this Episode
The theme of this episode is "The Environment".
Studio: Jeremy introduces the camera on the M4 bus lane, which will be running throughout the show, to prove that it is never used.
Review: Richard looks at the new Saab 9-3 by driving it in an eco-friendly manner. He finds it has a 'solid, premium car feel', which it needs to compete with the Germans.
News: The new Daihatsu Copen seems a bad import. The SL55 AMG has some work done by Brabus. It's still gay. Renault know how to make a 5-star Euro NCAP car, as the list ever increases. We hear the average car journey is now 16% longer than 4 years ago.
Review: Richard looks at diesels and briefly at the Peugeot RC; the diesel sports car.
Studio: Jeremy adds more cars to the cool wall. He introduces the Kristin-Scott Thomas rule.
Studio: They look at electric cars. Richard proves that the Ford Th!nk is pointless by staging a race between it and Jason. Jason wins because the Th!nk ran out of power. He then looks at the Toyota Prius. And puts it on the cool-wall under 'the deep dark recesses of hell'.
Review: Jason takes a bunch of supercars to a primary school as a breaktime treat to prove that the next generation don't want an eco-friendly Prius. He shows them a Ferrari 360, a Nissan GT-R R34, a Pagani Zonda and a TVR Tuscan, however they all prefer the Lamborghini Countach.
Main Review: Jeremy finds out that the Lotus Elise is a brilliant way to evade the government. It is cheap to buy, run and returns fairly high MPG figures. He then learns how to drive round Top Gear's Lotus built test-track properly with the help of the chief chassis engineer at Lotus. The Stig then takes it round the wet track in 1:35, the same as a Ferrari 575.
Star in a Reasonably Priced Car: Rick Parfitt, Status Quo frontman, talks about music, crashes and his love for Porsches. Nowadays however he doesn't after his mother advised against it following a large accident. He manages a 1:52.
Studio: Jason and Richard look at great deals with the Fiat Stilo, Ford Ka and Isuzu Trooper.
Challenge: Richard looks for the fastest faith. The contenders are the Hare-Krishnas, the Catholic Church, Judaism, Buddhism, and the Church of England (two contenders, a Reverend and a Bishop). The Bishop has a large crash, but the winner is the Reverend from the Church of England.
